Vice President of Mortgage Lending
Martine Lebel begins every transaction by asking clients what their goals are and determining how she can turn those ambitions into reality. From the very beginning, she prepares for any issues that might arise by coming up with multiple ways to make the loan work.
“It’s a great feeling to know that I make a difference in my clients’ lives,” says Lebel, vice president of mortgage lending at Guaranteed Rate. “I don’t take this responsibility lightly.”
Lebel has always had the entrepreneurial spirit required to succeed in this competitive sector. She became a retail store franchisee at the age of 19, and she’s worked in the mortgage industry for more than 20 years, crediting her success to extensive training, experience and life lessons she learned as a competitive swimmer.
Popular with officials at the city’s Homeownership Assistance Program, she has been named Loan Officer of the Year by companies she’s worked for multiple times throughout her career. Lebel works with many first-time homebuyers and teaches the mortgage portion of new homebuyer classes at many HUD-approved agencies. “I have a lot of repeat clients and also work with clients who need jumbo loans,” she says.
Lebel gains inspiration from her two children and enjoys being a hockey mom. “I am so proud of who they are,” she says. “I have taught them strong values and a strong work ethic.” Busy schedule aside, she makes time to run three miles every morning to clear her head and start the day feeling energized.
