Restoration of The Raleigh Hotel wins board approval

The Historic Preservation Board of Miami Beach has approved developer Michael Shvo’s plan to restore The Raleigh Hotel, which was purchased from fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger in February 2019 for $103 million.

The three-acre master plan development also includes the restoration of two adjacent properties, the South Seas and the Richmond, purchased for a combined $140 million in August 2019, as well as the construction of a new 175-foot oceanfront residential tower.

Located at Collins Avenue and 18th Street in Miami Beach, the properties will be unified as one and developed into a luxury hotel and condominium building.

Submitted to the board in April, Shvo plans to restore The Raleigh Hotel, its iconic pool, and the historic frontage of the Richmond and South Seas Hotels back to their original 1941 grandeur, as originally conceived by architect L. Murray Dixon.

“The Raleigh Hotel is the crown jewel of Miami Beach,” said Shvo, chairman and CEO of SHVO, in a press release. “SHVO will continue to honor Miami’s rich history and culture. We vow to play a significant role in the city’s continued growth and transformation.”

Mixed-use project planned for Dania Beach

Multi-family developer The Estate Companies has announced plans to develop an eight-story mid-rise, mixed-use community with 340 luxury rental units located on Federal Highway and Dania Beach Boulevard.

Formerly known as Trion at Dania Beach, Soleste Cityline will include studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom units with dual master suites and private balconies. The project will feature a pool deck, fitness center, outdoor grilling stations, clubroom and private event space.

“We look forward to working together and delivering this exceptional development to the Dania Beach community,” said The Estate Companies Principal Jeffrey Ardizon in a press release. “The City of Dania Beach has so much to offer, and we are very happy to be contributing to its growth and expansion.”

Merrimac Ventures will develop the 12,800 square-foot retail portion of the project, set to break ground in the fourth quarter of this year.

Sunny Isles Beach project on Collins Avenue nears completion

Aurora condominiums in Sunny Isles Beach, the first project to be developed on the west side of Collins Avenue in more than a decade, has just added its 17th and final floor, according to project developer Verzasca.

Projected to be completed by the third quarter of 2021 and already 65% sold, the 61-unit luxury condominium will feature two- and three-bedroom units starting in the $900,000s.

Amenities include private sundecks with cabana lounges, a half-Olympic length pool, fitness center, indoor and outdoor yoga lounges and a Hammam spa.

“This is an incredibly exciting moment for Verzasca and everyone involved in the conception and development of Aurora,” said Verzasca Managing Director Tim Lobanov in a press release. “The topping off ceremony represents a significant milestone for our company and gives us an opportunity to express our gratitude to those who made this project possible.”
