Agent Snapshot: Techrin Hijazi, Realtor, Brown Harris Stevens Miami

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate? Investing and finding value in properties. I purchased my first investment property at the age of 16, a piece of land that I brought sight unseen. Even then, I knew it was a great opportunity in an underdeveloped area. I actually still own it and it has increased in value tremendously.

Where did you grow up? Coral Gables

Growing up, what did you want to be? An attorney or a litigator — I always had a desire to help and represent clients.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? To unwind, I love to jog and workout.

If you could meet any well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Cleopatra. She was a leader and a visionary who shattered so many ceilings. If I met her, I would have so many questions to ask her.

What do you love most about the industry? Every day brings so many new experiences and challenges. It gives me an opportunity to meet new people, explore new areas and hunt for the best deals. It’s exhilarating.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Watching sellers walk away from great deals and offers — often, the best offers are the first ones that come in.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads? Work hard, stay disciplined and set goals. Don’t ever pay for leads; earn them yourself.

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? I prefer listening to spirituality podcasts.I try not to watch too much TV, although I am fond of Shark Tank.

What’s your favorite meal in Miami? My husband’s cooking.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami? Vizcaya Museum & Gardens and The Conrad Miami. Vizcaya’s Mediterranean and Revival Style architecture is breathtaking. The Conrad is just cool and elegant and has the most amazing sunsets.

What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you on the job? The reaction I get from a buyer when I ask if they want to see Miami up in the air. It’s priceless.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you? That I started my real estate career at such an early age and was actually successful at it. I’m still just as passionate about it.

What’s your favorite vacation spot and why? Anywhere on an island — the more rustic, the better.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Learn the market and have tolerance, persistence and resilience.

Who are your favorite people to follow on social media? @miamiagentmagazine and @ValliArtGallery.

Thanks for the shout out for Vizcaya Museum and Gardens! Built between 1914-1916, Vizcaya’s architecture inspired the Mediterranean style seen throughout Miami. We are open! http://www.vizcaya.org
