Agent Snapshot: Krista Richman, Sales Director, The Ocean Resort Residences and Cervera Real Estate

What was your most interesting job before going into real estate? I was a model and commercial actor for about 10 years before jumping into real estate full time.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Cape May, a very small beach town in New Jersey known for its seafood, the beach and historical Victorian architecture from the 1800s. I grew up in the same house as my father and went to the same high school he attended. Once my parents purchased the home from my grandmother, she moved across the street. After she passed, my brother purchased and renovated her home and has our parents as neighbors! There is something magical about that town that makes so many people want to stay, but for me, I wanted more action and the city life.

Growing up, what did you want to be? Architect, teacher, engineer, model, Miss America — I had a lot of dreams that didn’t necessarily correlate. Luckily, I have been able to check many of those career boxes.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I love spending time with my friends, enjoying the outdoors and beautiful weather we have in South Florida.

Where is Miami’s best-kept secret? I love Sunset Harbour in Miami Beach. It’s about a four-block by three-block section of the beach with my favorite restaurants, shops, and boutique fitness places. I also love to have lunch at the Standard Hotel overlooking the open bay.

What do you love most about the industry? I love problem solving. I always try to look at each deal from all angles to find the solution for all parties involved. It’s very rewarding to find out-of-the-box solutions.

What’s your best advice for generating new leads? Marketing and social media

What are you binge-watching/reading/listening to lately? I’m binge-watching Ozark, I’m reading Conversations with RBG: Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Life, Love, Liberty, and Law by Jeffrey Rosen and I love listening to the Cervera Miami real estate podcast.

What’s your favorite meal in Miami? Spaghetti at Scarpetta by Scott Conant in the Fountainbleau.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami? The Apogee on South Beach is stunning. The sleek straight lines are visually significant, and the 270-degree walls of windows and views are unmatched.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to learn about you? Some people are surprised to learn about my career paths. I received my degree in Architectural Engineering from University of Miami, then moved to L.A. to model, moved back to Miami to continue in the entertainment field, then started working in real estate. I have had many different opportunities in life, but I feel they all helped me in one way or another to have a successful career in real estate.

What’s your favorite vacation spot and why? I love Italy. In one small country, every city has its own personality, history, and architecture.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Never underestimate the value of teamwork.

I have specialized in the sale of condo hotels since 2002, long before any other broker in America, and I’m pleased to say that “KRich,” as I call her, was my partner and confidant on, bar none, the most complicated deal I have ever put together. In terms of satisfying my buyer, who was pleasant but not easy, KRich and I made a terrific team, and the buyer considers both of us to be friends. I truly enjoy working with her every time.
