This week in Miami real estate: Pocket listings, sustainability and more

by Faiza Islam

New website targets pocket listings

A new service capitalizing on the growing popularity of “off-market” or “pocket” listings is coming to Miami. ThePLS.com was founded by James Harris and Christopher Dyson of The Agency Collective, which recently began operations in Miami. ThePLS.com essentially aims to provide members, either buyer or listing agents, with a way to share exclusive listings as well as search for them on behalf of clients.

“Pocket listings have long been a staple of the Real Estate industry. Yet searching for and offering such listings has historically been a complicated and unnecessarily labor intensive task, until now,” according to the website. “The PLS allows listing and buyers agents to list and search for pocket listings in their area without compromising buyer or seller privacy.”

City officials, local groups craft new sustainability report

Several Greater Miami communities collaborated together to create a regional resilience strategy, called “Resilient 305.” The effort is a cooperation between the cities of Miami and Miami Beach, Miami-Dade County, The Miami Foundation and 100 Resilient Cities. Resilient 305 consists of more than 50 actions focusing on issues such as the environment, infrastructure, economic prosperity and addressing mobility, housing options, energy efficiency, financial stability; and improving public health priorities. In April, Resilient 305 will receive $3 million over a three-year period after being named one of the first winners of JP Morgan Chase’s Advancing Cities Challenge.

Resilient 305 aims to provide a sufficient amount of resources to the city and citizens after facing traumatizing encounters and daily stressors. According to Smart Cities Dive’s insight report, the resilience strategy is discussing climate change and environmental concerns to boost the area’s natural beauty and wildlife to draw tourism attention and economic benefits. It is also focused on the importance of pre-planning for post-disaster recovery and strengthening job growth and wealth creation. Resilient 305’s distinctive, collaborative regional approach stands out from other resilience plans.
