Agent Snapshot: Lorena Gomez, Managing Partner and Realtor Associate, Met Real Estate

Name: Lorena Gomez

Job Title: Managing Partner and Realtor Associate

Company: Met Real Estate in Doral, FL

What was your first job in the real estate industry? My first job in the real estate industry was working as a buyers agent and basically shadowing a very prominent local top producer in a very big, international real estate firm. I learned a lot, but mostly that I never again want to work for a large company or for anyone else for that matter.

Where did you grow up? I was born in Brazil but grew up in Miami.

Growing up, what did you want to be? I wanted to be a lawyer, I even worked a few years as a certified Paralegal.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I like to go for a nice, long run before the sun is up. It helps me clear my thoughts.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Barbara Corcoran because I admire her as an entrepreneur and business woman!

Where is your favorite place to hang out? I love anywhere there is an open space where you get to enjoy the ambiance and the weather, if there is a water view that’s a plus as well.

What do you love most about the industry? I love the fact that everyday is a new day with new opportunities and no two days are the same; there is no monotony in real estate. I also love and never take for granted that I am solely responsible for my time. It makes being a working mom much easier and I’m much happier for it because I’ve never had to miss an event that is important to my kids.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? My customer service! To me the most important thing has always been the relationships I create with all my clients. My clients entrust me with either the sale of their largest asset or the biggest purchase they’ve ever made and I never take that responsibility lightly.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? That sometimes there is no clocking out.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I get as involved in my community and volunteer as much I possibly can! HOA boards, PTA’s, City committees, you name it I’m on it.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment has been my family. I have a really supportive husband who pushes me to be better and do more, and I also have two amazing daughters who also push me to be the best example I can be. My goal has always been to teach them to break every glass ceiling.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

What is your favorite restaurant? Caffe Toraldo. I love their pasta & charcuterie board.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami? The Miami Tower. Growing up as a kid it always impressed me, I loved to see it change colors. As an adult, it brings back childhood memories and just makes me feel like I’m home.

What kind of car do you drive? A Range Rover Evoque. It’s like my own bat-mobile.

Smartphone or paper? I love my smartphone but am still an old-school kind of girl with a paper agenda that goes everywhere with me! It keeps track of all of my appointments and goals.

What is your favorite city after Miami? I love the hustle and bustle of New York City. I am a definitely a city girl.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Be coachable, stay humble and learn as much as you can.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? GoMLS is a game changer, so is Mortgage calculator and Camscanner.
