Agent Snapshot: Lauren Dowlen, Luxury Sales Associate, Lowell International Realty

Name: Lauren Dowlen

Job Title: Luxury Sales Associate

Company: Lowell International Realty

What was your first job in the realty industry? Sales Associate

Where did you grow up? Miami, Florida; Austin, Texas; Ann Arbor, Michigan

Growing up, what did you want to be? An actress on Broadway.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Enjoy the City Beautiful – take bike rides with my family, go for a jog, enjoy one of our restaurants.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? The Queen of England! What is she really like? I’d love to know. Also how has her perspective changed over time and all the incredible events she has witnessed (and influenced) over the past nearly 100 years.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? Especially as the weather turns more mild, I enjoy a picnic in Matheson Hammock, a bike ride along Old Cutler, shopping and dining al fresco in Merrick Park or along Miracle Mile.

What do you love most about the industry? Our clients! Developing relationships with our clients is highly rewarding.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I’m approachable to clients and I think that helps in developing a relationship so that I can better identify what they are looking for in the transaction. I’m highly knowledgeable about individual neighborhoods and streets, and work to hone in on the best comparables so as to advise clients. Also, my network casts a wide net from so much community involvement.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? I pride myself on personally showing my listings, and personally attending showings with buyers. It makes such a difference going into negotiations. So the scheduling of showings of either listings or with buyers and agents can be very challenging some days!

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? Volunteering in the community has always been important to me personally. I certainly do not get involved with an organization or an event to seek new clients! But I do find that the more people you get to know personally, the more they will either recommend you because they know your skill set or they will choose to work with you.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My family. They are so supportive of my business, my personal satisfaction, and my community involvement. I am so grateful and proud of us together!

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? I finally saw Dunkirk. I was fascinated by the interweaving stories and the moment in time. Such bravery.

What is your favorite restaurant? It really always has been Whisk, in South Miami. For years and years and years.

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami? We have so many amazing styles. The historic properties really do appeal to me. I love the open porches and coral rock that the early builders in Miami used to take advantage of the sea breeze along the water. I love the Barnacle. Simple, built to last.

What kind of car do you drive? I drive a Chevrolet currently. Reliable, good with kids or clients.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone! Google Calendar is amazing.

What is your favorite city after Miami? It’s a tie between Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia. Both so charming.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Offer to help your colleagues in your office. You’ll learn much faster than just taking courses.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? I really like Homesnap. It’s easy to use and quick to respond.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? For a laugh, I follow the Holderness Family. They absolutely crack me up. I’m not a huge Twitter fan. I’m more Instagram and old school Facebook.
