Agent Snapshot: Michael Gonzalez, Real Estate Broker, Florida Platinum Group

Name: Michael Gonzalez

Job Title: Real estate broker

Company: Florida Platinum Group LLC

What was your first job in the realty industry? I started my career off at a 100 percent commission firm named Florida Evaluation Realty.

Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in Miami. Loved my first 10 years in Hialeah, then moved to West Kendall. I have made West Kendall my home for the last 22 years.

Growing up, what did you want to be? My passion before real estate was in the medical field. I was fascinated by it. I started working in a doctor’s office when I turned 18 years old and loved science. My eye was always on real estate, seeing people in the real estate industry in 2005, the lifestyle, being able to help people achieve the American dream, the financial freedom, being able to dress in suits and long sleeves made me love the real estate world more. I knew I wanted to become a Realtor, and ultimately a broker and owner of a real estate office. I love to help people, and helping them succeed and get to the next level is rewarding on so many levels.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? The ocean. Something about being in the ocean on a boat, island, and hearing the water is relaxing. I also have this balcony that connects with my master bedroom. I put a hammock, awning and string lights and I lay there at night overlooking my lake. That is where I mostly go to relax.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? There are so many people who I would love to sit and have lunch with but it would have to be Jeff Bezos. He is a genius. He is an innovator. He knows what the masses want. He is also a philanthropist, donating much of his money to great research and causes.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? I love the Gables. The professional atmoshphere, amazing restaurants, and you never know who you can run into and network with.

What do you love most about the industry? Everything really. The financial freedom. There is no cap, you can make as much money as you want to. The lifestyle of real estate. There are so many great individuals in the industry. You establish not only professional relationships, but family as well. Being able to interact with other Realtors and brokers from other brokerages and help eachother out.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I am a professional Realtor/broker. I have extensive experience in sales, and have strong knowledge of the real estate market. I have sold and listed many properties in many different areas. I have successfully listed and sold homes where my seller has profited much more than they first expected. My job is to find my clients a home they are completely satisfied with, for a price they are comfortable with. But I never stop there; I will guide them through the entire process and stay in contact with them for as long as they need. I build relationships with my clients, not just a database. My best interest is to make sure my clients are happy.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Unfortunately, working with unprofessional real estate personnel.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I try to attend as many real estate network events. Hillstone in the Gables, social media is a huge outlet to set yourself apart and network on a gigantic scale.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? Creating over 10 real estate brokers.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? The last good movie I saw was “Ant-Man 2.”

What is your favorite restaurant? Chef Adrienne’s

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami? Perez Art Museum

What kind of car do you drive? I drive a white BMW 650i Grand Coupe.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone

What is your favorite city after Miami? Las Vegas.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Learn.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Dotloop. I have the power to overlook all the office contracts and I can create offers and submit them. Clients can electronically sign as well.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? Donald Trump and Chad Ocho Cinco.
