This Week in Miami Real Estate: Restoration grants, new North Beach hotel and more

Miami city officials approved grants to help restore areas of the city that were damaged by Hurricane Irma, said Curbed Miami. The Miami City Commission authorized the city to accept $34 million in grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and $9.4 million from an insurance payout. The money will help with the cleanup of parks and facilities around Miami, including Watson Island, where boat vessels are currently taking up space in the facilities parking lot and marina.

In other news:

  • Silvia Coltrane, a Miami Beach developer, proposed changes to her North Beach hotel project, according to The Real Deal. Coltrane, one of the leaders of Collins and 72nd Developers LLC, plans on presenting a new proposal for the hotel before the city’s planning and zoning and design review boards. The proposal includes 187 hotel rooms, 24 condo units, two swimming pools, a full service restaurant along with various other hotel amenities. The new proposal comes after the Miami Beach Commission voted to pass an ordinance to increase the floor area ratio for the North Beach area.
  • Broward and Palm Beach Counties have a new Marketing V.P. In a press release, Douglas Elliman announced Jamie Drysdale’s promotion as the new Vice President of Marketing for Development Marketing in Broward and Palm Beach Counties. Drysdale previously worked as the Senior Marketing Director for Douglas Elliman Development Marketing. In her new position, Drysdale will oversee projects like VistaBlue Singer Island, 3550 South Ocean and The Bristol.
  • ONE Sotheby’s International Realty is adding a familiar face back to their team. ONE Sotheby announced in a press release broker Sladja Stantic is rejoining the ONE Sotheby team and will open her own office, Sladja Miami Homes, in Sunset Harbour. Stantic rejoins the ONE Sotheby team after working with Douglas Elliman. Stantic has been a leader in the Miami real estate market for over 15 years.
