Miami Realtors increases presence at international conference

by Claire Brennan

The Miami Association of Realtors is increasing its presence by 400 percent at MIPIM — the largest commercial real estate conference in the world, which hosts over 24,000 real estate executives from more than 100 countries.

Miami Realtors will be promoting Miami and South Florida at MIPIM from March 13 to 16 in Cannes, France. Five Miami Realtors leaders, one member, and three executives will be representing the association this year.

In addition to the personnel increase, Miami Realtors also added their own adjacent exhibit space to the conference this year.

Miami Realtors promotes as part of the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and has been attending MIPIM as such for the past four years.

Miami Realtors is the biggest local Realtor association in the United States, representing 47,000 real estate professionals and partnering with 169 international organizations.

Having a large focus on international promotion is key for Miami Realtors due to the global appeal of both the city and state. In Florida, 53 percent of international real estate transactions are in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale/West Palm Beach area.

According to a profile from NAR, Florida is the No. 1 destination in America for foreign buyers, with international purchasers having spent $7.1 billion on South Florida residential properties last year alone.

Real estate in Miami is particularly popular for buyers from South America. As of June 2017, five of the top 10 countries searching for real estate on MiamiRealtors.com were from South America, with Colombia in the No. 1 spot.

“South Florida is one of the world’s top destinations for international investment,” says George Jalil, the 2018 MIAMI board chairman. “[We are] looking forward to showcasing Miami’s incredible live, work and play lifestyle and making more global connections at the world’s No. 1 business event.”
