Agent Snapshot: Gysenia Gonzalez, Broker Associate, Yes Real Estate Services

Name: Gysenia Gonzalez

Title: Broker associate

Company: Yes Real Estate Services

What was your first job in the realty industry? I began in 2003 as a real estate sales associate.

Where did you grow up? New Jersey.

Growing up, what did you want to be? An elementary school teacher. I love working with children. I volunteer a lot of my time at my daughter’s school. This is so rewarding to me.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? Go for a run or hit the gym. I am very dedicated to my fitness lifestyle. Eating healthy and exercise are key to having a clear and healthy mind.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? Jennifer Lopez. I would love to know how she was able to overcome a lot of obstacles to get to where she is, how she manages her business traveling and family time, what advice can she give me to be different from the rest, and some insight on a little bit of everything. She is an icon.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? The park. I love the outdoors and nature.

What do you love most about the industry? The rewards that come from a happy client. The smile on a seller or buyer when you have helped them from start to finish in their real estate goals. Happy client, happy Realtor!

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? My years of experience in this industry. I go above and beyond my call of duty to help each client individually.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? Honestly, I love what I do. However, the most difficult aspect has to be when I encounter unprofessionalism in this industry. Realtors need to learn to work together for the consumer.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? The majority of my business is referral based. I do get involved and attend real estate networking events from time to time.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? A few years ago I committed myself to fitness and living a healthier lifestyle. I decided to compete and step out of my comfort zone. The first competition, I didn’t win first place, so this pushed me to be better and mentally prepare myself for future ones. I continued competing until I won first place. I had to proof to myself and my family that giving up is never an option. Its not all about the win but what I learned and accomplished along the way. The wonderful people I also met through this journey.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? I don’t have too much time to watch movies. However one of my good reads have been The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren.

What is your favorite restaurant? Hillstone in Coral Gables

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami? Paramount Miami Worldcenter

What kind of car do you drive? Land Rover, Range Rover

Smartphone or paper? I am still a bit old-fashioned and love paper, however with all the new smartphone apps and its up to date data readily available I’d have to choose my smartphone.

What is your favorite city after Miami? New York City

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Educate yourself in the current market. Patience and professionalism

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? RPR iPhone app.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? I’m not active on Twitter. I prefer Instagram. I enjoy following Ryan Serhant.
