Having trouble keeping up to date on all of Miami’s top real estate stories? News this week includes the merger of two major South Florida residential brokerages and the formation of a new commercial developer.

In case you missed it, here is a recap of this week’s top stories:

South Florida’s new largest residential brokerage – Two family-owned brokerages, Keyes Co. and Illustrated Properties, announced a merger that positions the new company as the largest residential brokerage by volume in South Florida, the South Florida Business Journal report. Combined, the brokerage will have more than 3,100 sales associates.

The region’s commercial market gets a new developer – A group of “construction industry heavy hitters” – Agustin Arellano (formerly of OHL-Arellano Construction Co.), Gilberto Neves (formerly of Odebrecht USA), Jesus Vazquez (formerly of Facchina Construction), and Agustin Arellano Jr. (formerly of OHL-Arellano) – have announced plans to combine their experience and contacts into a new commercial development group: NV2A Group, reported The Real Deal. The group intends to focus on public infrastructure, healthcare, universities, hotels and office buildings.

Palm Beach Gardens could annex nearly 100 acres for new homes – This week the South Florida Business Journal reported that the Salvatore J. Balsamo Trust filed an application with the City of Palm Beach Gardens to annex nearly 100 acres of land for single-family home development. If approved, the community could help alleviate a severe shortage of homes priced in the mid-range of the market.
