Robert Van Winkle, formerly the rapper known as “Vanilla Ice,” who now renovates homes for “The Vanilla Ice Project” on DIY Network, faces charges of burglary and grand theft of a Florida home that was in the process of foreclosure. Charges stem from a burglary that occurred sometime between Dec. 2014 and Feb. 2015 on a $1 million home, where several pieces of furniture, a pool heater, bicycles and other items were taken from the home. Van Winkle was renovating the residence next to the property, and the missing items were found at that residence, but he insists it’s all a misunderstanding and was released on a $6,000 bond. An Austrian man’s desperate attempt to unload his Detroit investment property found a happy ending with a sale — and an iPhone 6. Andreas Gindelhuber bought a $41,000 foreclosure in Detroit in 2010, hoping to make some money on it as a rental property. But the Detroit market continued to plummet, and even a rock-bottom price of $3,000 found no takers after four months. The three-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath Colonial is smoke-damaged, missing all its doors and windows, carries a $6,000 tax bill, and – bonus – there’s a chair on the roof of the porch. Gindelhuber joked with his agent that he’d be willing to trade the home for an iPhone 6 or iPad, and his agent decided to add that to the listing…and it worked.
