Agent Snapshot: Peter Ancona, Broker and CEO, Ancona Real Estate, Coral Gables

Peter-Ancona

Peter Ancona is the broker and CEO of Ancona Real Estate working in Coral Gables.

What was your first job in the realty industry? I was mentored by my father in N.Y. He came to this county by very humble means. Over time, with a detailed plan, he was able to purchase a series of apartment buildings and create a great amount of wealth. As a young child, I watched him negotiate real estate deals, rehab apartments, collect rent, improve curb appeal and follow his life’s passion. Learning from him is one of the key components to my success in Miami.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I typically deal with very high net worth, demanding type A clients on a 24 hours basis. To unwind, I like combining weight lifting with long walks on the beach/bay. These power walks tend to inspire my creativity, allowing me to focus on expanding my brand, improving my marketing methods, gaining new business and selling my existing inventory.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in an upper middle class neighborhood in New York.

Growing up, what did you want to be? I always wanted to be a large scale landlord. I envisioned myself playing a game like Monopoly, but with real money and a large portfolio of apartment buildings.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be and why? I would like to have lunch with Jorge Perez, who is a local celebrity and hero to our industry. Even though I have seen him out many times at events I attend, it would be nice to talk to and learn from him at a lunch meeting.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? I love going to South Pointe Park at Sunset. There is something amazing about watching the bay meet the ocean. There is an energy in the air that cant be described.

What do you love most about the industry? I love the diversity of the real estate world. It is a constant game of chess that is fun to both play and, of course, win!

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? In 2014, I have had several notable accomplishments/records, including selling approximately $10 million in real estate within 98 days. Goals like this can only be accomplished because of my experience, my real estate database (currently over 11,000 high net worth clientele with assets over $1 million), my local, national and international connections, and my ability to spend money on marketing. I call this “The Ancona Difference,” and it is something that can only be seen in a person, because words simply can’t describe my passion for this industry.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? There is no aspect, specifically, I see as difficult. In real estate, every problem has a solution.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I have various methods, which is a combination of several organizations and groups.

What has been you greatest accomplishment? In 2013, I completed a confidential sale to a famous Forbes billionaire. Since that closing, I have had a fair share of famous clients, from athletes to hedge fund managers, and even royalty. Each unique, high profile client has been an inspiration on how to conduct yourself in the public eye, keep a low profile and deal with great wealth the correct way. I am grateful to these clients who trust fully in my real estate services.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? “The 48 Laws of Power” by Robert Greene is a very good book. I recently re-read it for a third time and highly recommend it to everyone.

What is your favorite restaurant? Lucali in Miami Beach. Amazing food, location and people! A must try!

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Houston? I really like the design of 1000 Museum Park that is being built now.

What kind of car do you drive? I drive a white on white BMW 7 series sport. It’s a great car for showings.

Smartphone or paper? Smartphone with paper!

What is your favorite city after Miami? A combination of New York City and East Hampton.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? We offer training/mentorship. Visit: www.AnconaRealty.com

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Flashlight.

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? The Trump Family.
