Agent Snapshot: Holtz Ludlam, Realtor Associate, Keller Williams, Coral Gables

Holtz-Ludlam

Holtz Ludlam is a Realtor Associate with Keller Williams working in Coral Gables and Coconut Grove.

What was your first job in the realty industry? My first job was actually being a real estate agent at 18.

What do you do to relax when you’re stressed? I car shop. Cars are my second passion. Sitting in the seat of a special car is surprisingly therapeutic.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Indianapolis, Ind. I acquired my salesperson’s and broker’s licenses there before moving to Miami when I was 18.

Growing up, what did you want to be? Growing up, I wanted to be a real estate agent. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do and all I could imagine doing. I made that decision I think in kindergarten and committed to it since then.

If you could have lunch with a well-known figure (living or not), who would it be? I would have lunch with Al Capone. Everybody has their motivations and it would be interesting to learn more about his. Plus, he alone has greatly influenced property values in Miami Beach and Palm Island from his life until now.

Where is your favorite place to hang out? My favorite place to hang out would have to be Panther Coffee in Miami Beach. Nowhere else can you get such diverse people watching. The coffee is good too.

What do you love most about the industry? I love real estate because since the earth was formed, theoretically there has been the same amount until now. Real estate can never be created nor destroyed, only improved.

How do you distinguish yourself from the crowd of agents? I set myself apart with my complete service to my clients. My clients will be able to reach me whenever, wherever to have their questions directly answered. I pride myself on my communication and professionalism. I also never sleep and am willing to do the things other agents are not willing to do. Call me at 4 a.m. and you bet I will answer. I never take shortcuts and have a vast and growing knowledge of the areas I conduct my business.

What is the most difficult aspect of your job? The most difficult aspect of my job would have to be being patient. Patience is such a hard thing in real estate, especially when emotions get involved.

Where do you go to network and meet new clients? I am a car guy so whenever I see a nice car I go and talk to the owner. Cars are an area I can greatly connect with many like-minded people, and it creates that special bond and an element of trust I can carry over into a real estate deal.

What has been your greatest accomplishment? My greatest accomplishment was obtaining my licenses at such a young age. I am proud of this because it has allowed me to be very knowledgeable about the real estate formalities and laws.

What was the last good movie you saw or book you read? I recently read “Travels with Charley” by John Steinbeck. It was a great tale about Steinbeck’s travels across America with his poodle, Charley.

What is your favorite restaurant? My favorite restaurant has to be Area 31 located on the 16th floor of the Epic Hotel. Again, great people watching, beautiful cars, excellent food and a spectacular view…what’s better?

Architecturally speaking, what is your favorite building in Miami? The Gesu Church, I would have to say. It is this beautifully old Church located amongst modern skyscrapers. It was built in 1896 and there is an incredible amount of history behind it.

What kind of car do you drive? I drive a BMW 645ci. It is my love, but I am always shopping around for cars.

Smartphone or paper? I like the mix of both. I still take all of my notes and do most of my work on paper. It’s hard to survive in this day and age without a smartphone, though .

What is your favorite city after Miami? I have to give love to my home city, Indianapolis. An often overlooked Midwestern city, it is a beautifully crafted, quirky, diverse city that feels almost like a large neighborhood.

In 10 words or less, what is your advice for someone new to the industry? Create your brand and love what you do.

What’s your favorite real estate iPhone/Android app? Calculator- for calculating your commission checks!

Who are your favorite people to follow on Twitter? @2HOLTZ is a pretty funny guy I hear.
